Laura

Hello!  I'm so glad you stopped by our little record of life on the road.  I am a photographer based in Charleston, SC on the adventure of a lifetime. Driving across the country is one of those things on the bucket list that sounds cool. You would love to do it one day, but when are you ever going to take the time to do it - and do it right? By right I mean, taking the time to see the sights, smell the smells and meet the people that you might find along the way. I think the key is that if you are ever offered the opportunity to do it, say yes before you even think about it. That's what I did.  And everything seems to be working out so far...

BACKSTORY//
It all started over coffee. As most grand things in my life do. My dear friend and mentor Anne was back in town after moving away more than 2 years ago. So we met for coffee and conversation. I set aside an hour for catching up.  As we began chatting it was apparent that one hour just wasn't going to cut it. We gasped when we realized how long it had really been. Two and half hours later I managed to stumble back to my office, over caffeinated and talked out.  I flopped into my chair and it began to sink in... somewhere in the second hour of conversation I had just agreed to drive across the country.

I called her the next day to see if she really meant it and if I had actually agreed as fast as I thought I had. Yes and yes. So we hung up and started researching plane fares.

THE PLAN//
Fly to California, pick up her car, pack a few belongings in the trunk and head back to the opposite coast. One country, two crazy southern women, eight states (which eight, we are not entirely sure) over ten days. Wine and Nutella are requirements, knowing where we are going is not.

This blog is the story of our journey.
